About my homestay

The homestay is situated on the second floor of our family house, while my family and I reside downstairs. Our house is nestled in the charming village of La'bo, a short distance from Rantepao. As you step onto our balcony, you will be greeted with a breathtaking view of the traditional Torajan Tongkonan houses and the rice storages that belong to my family. It's a picturesque scene that showcases the rich cultural heritage of our community and provides a serene backdrop for your stay.

Our Rooms

Our rooms provide a simple and basic accommodation experience. Each room is equipped with a comfortable mattress, a mosquito net to ensure a peaceful night's sleep, a small wardrobe for storing your belongings, and electricity outlets for conveniently charging your devices. We have a total of four rooms available, with each room suitable for up to two persons. All rooms are furnished with a double mattress measuring 1.60 meters in width, ensuring a cozy and comfortable stay.

The common area

Beside your room, we also offer a welcoming common area for our guests to relax and socialize. This cozy space features a large table, comfortable seating, and benches where guests can gather, mingle, and connect with one another. It's the perfect spot to unwind, read a book, or simply enjoy the magnificent view from our balcony while savoring a cup of coffee or tea. Whether you prefer engaging in conversations or finding a peaceful moment for yourself, our common area provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for all our guests to enjoy.

Makassar

There are options: by bus or by plane.

The Bus takes around eight to nine hours from Makassar and leaves in the morning and evening around 9 o'clock. They are very comfortable and there will be usually two to three stops in between for eating or going to the toilet. We recommend the night bus option as it is usually a little bit faster and the busses are even more comfortable. Bintang Prima is a bus company that even offers a limited amount of places with a matress in their night bus. Our recommended choice of travelling here!

By plane the best option is to take a flight from Makassar to the recently opened Tana Toraja Airport (TRT). From there it's a one hour ride to Rantepao. There is still no public transport available from the airport to Rantepao. But we can organize a driver for you to pick you up (at an extra cost).

Another option by plane would be to fly from Makassar to Palopo. From there it's around two and a half hours to get to Rantepao with a car.

From the North (Togeans/Ampana/Tentena)

If you are coming from the North (most likely from Ampana with a stopover in Tentena) there are also options for a bus from Tentena. From Tentena it takes usually around 12 hours to Rantepao.

Besides of that you always have the option of a private driver to get around. Let us know if you need help finding one.

Up to date information about how to get here can also be found in this article

Here are two options for reaching our homestay from Rantepao (usually when you arrive by bus)

1st Option: Using Public Transport

If your bus arrives before 6 am, it will drop you off in Rantepao. In Rantepao, look for a place called Chimsky Cafe. Right in front of it, you'll find transportation to Labo (my village). Inform the driver to take you to Bengkel Bamba Motor / Warung Pong Piter (our homestay is located opposite this shop), or you can follow the map location on our website.

If your bus arrives after 6 am, it will drop you off before reaching Rantepao. In this case, you can head towards the town by taking public transportation to Buffalo Statue (Tedong Bonga). From there, find transportation to Labo (my village). Again, inform the driver to take you to Bengkel Bamba Motor / Warung Pong Piter (opposite this shop is our homestay), or use the map location on our website for guidance.

2nd Option: Private Pick-Up

If you prefer a more convenient option, we can arrange a private pick-up for you. We will provide clear instructions to the bus driver on where to drop you off. Please show the driver the message we'll provide. The cost for this service is 100k.

We hope these options make your arrival and check-in process as smooth and convenient as possible.

Typically, the buses from Makassar or Tentena arrive in Rantepao around 6 am, while our official check-in time is set for 12 o'clock.

We do offer the option of early check-in, provided your room is not occupied by other guests on the day of your arrival. The early check-in fee is 150k, and it includes breakfast. If you'd rather wait until the regular check-in time, you can explore the city and enjoy breakfast there before heading to our homestay.

Yes, finally we have!

We provide a delicious dinner (or lunch if you are not out at that time exploring Toraja) at an extra cost of 85.000 IDR per person in case you don't want to eat outside in Rantepao. Please be aware that there is no public transport in the evening and you will need your own car or scooter if you plan to eat outside in the evening.

We have. Please contact us to make sure that the scooter is available at the time of your stay. Alternatively there are places in Rantepao for renting a scooter.
